Biomechanical/Functional Movement Analysis & Retraining

Ensure you are able to perform your best and stay in the game. Poor quality movement leads to excessive loading on joints and muscles that then causes injury.

Preventing injury is far more effective than responding to it as it will minimise time lost from performing what you want to do.

If you skip the step of ensuring you move well when trying to increase strength or fitness then you are on the path to injury.
Ensure your body moves well so you can keep playing the game you love or get the full benefits of your exercise program.

Functional Movement Screen (FMS)
  • Proven system for assessing injury risk
  • Ranks and grades movement patterns that are key to normal function
  • Clearly identifies functional limitations and asymmetries that are known to increase the risk of injury.
  • Directs development of individualised exercise programs for preventing injury and increasing performance
  • Highly recommended for people about to increase their level of activity, return to activity or with a history of frequent injuries.
  • Used by sporting clubs around the world (including English Premier League and NFL teams)
  • Shown to be valid for any population group including firefighters, military and sedentary groups.

Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA)
  • Movement based diagnostic system for those with pain or injury
  • Assesses 7 fundamental movement patterns
  • Reveals the cause of injury by breaking down dysfunctional patterns into individual components
  • Guides treatment to remove cause of injury for more effective short and long term effects
  • Related to the FMS but applied you are injured or in pain. If you experience pain in any of the FMS tests then you need a SFMA

Running Biomechanical Assessment
At Tanunda Physio & Health you can have your running technique assessed and retrained to help you perform better for longer.
  • Running technique plays a large role in potential injury
  • Inefficient biomechanics can increase strain and fatigue in muscles and load on joints that then cause you pain
  • Poor technique affects performance
